Our History

Our past experiences have led to our present success.

Our history has allowed us to develop our past experiences into knowledge for present and future success. Strathbridge Asset Management is an independent wealth management firm that was founded in 1995. The company was originally established in 1984 by the Canada Trust Company under the name CT Investment Counsel Inc. and managed the institutional and pension fund business of The Canada Trust Company. In 1995, John Mulvihill purchased the company from Canada Trust and, in addition to the institutional and pension fund business, the company began to issue closed-end funds to Canadian retail investors. In 2008, John Mulvihill sold the institutional and wealth management divisions. Strathbridge is one of the oldest and most experienced issuers of closed-end funds in Canada.

The company currently manages 8 closed-end funds and one open-end mutual fund in Canada. In addition to a team of 7 portfolio managers, 6 of which hold their chartered financial analyst designation (CFA) the firm includes 6 other employees who help run the day-to-day operations. Over the past 20 plus years, we have built a reputation servicing high net worth private clients and institutional investors including: family offices, foundations, endowments, and pension plans. Our firm specializes in yield-oriented investment products that use option-based investment strategies to enhance yield and improve investors’ risk/return profile.
